Aeron’s latest release enhances trading technology’s performance and observability. With new IPC support for response channels, async counter creation, and improved client identification, capital markets can now achieve even greater speed, reliability, and transparency in their trading systems.
 

Aeron 1.49.0 Release Highlights

  • Response Channels IPC Support:
    Aeron response channels now support IPC media so that IPC connections are supported in the same way as UDP is.

  • Agrona Breaking Change:
    Agrona ShutdownSignalBarrier changed to use shutdown hooks instead of signals. More info here.

  • Observability Enhancements:
    With named clients in Archive and Aeron Cluster. The name will be sent to the Archive or Cluster with a connect request so the name or IP address of the connecting client is known.

  • Async Counter Creation:
    Aeron Counters can now be created asynchronously using Aeron.asyncAddCounter and Aeron.asyncAddStaticCounter methods for non-blocking behaviour and concurrency.
